The first Barkley Sound Knowledge Symposium is a 3 day meeting to identify and document ecosystem knowledge of Barkley Sound from scientific and traditional knowledge perspectives. Information and knowledge identified and summarized during this event will support the development of an Integrated Coastal and Oceans Management Plan for Barkley Sound, and ultimately for the West Coast of Vancouver Island.
The meeting will begin on the M.V. Francis Barkley on the journey to Bamfield on a Tuesday morning (February 9th, 2010), then continue at the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre from Thursday to Saturday, and finally conclude on the M.V. Francis Barkley during the trip back to Port on the afternoon of Thursday, February 11th, 2010.
